How to improve your mission experience
By Elder Bang, Scotland/Ireland Mandarin-Speaking Missionary

Step 1: Climb a mountain
Sometimes we talk about hard work as standing out in the rain all day talking to people (we did that a lot this week…), but yanno, sometimes hard work is walking all the way up the second tallest mountain in Scotland in a Kilt on a whim because you want a really flipping awesome picture of you in Scotland. Bonus: when-you-get-home-instagram Picture.
Step 2: Hotpot Party
This week we had a hotpot party. Essentially hotpot is Chinese party food where everyone gathers around a really hot pot of boiling water and seasonings and puts a bunch of frozen meat and things that cook right in front of you and you eat it right there. We had one at the church, what started as a few friends invited (the ones seen in the picture) turned into about 41 people in attendance. Members, non-members, and missionaries all enjoyed themselves, and a stomach full of wonderful food, which is always a great experience. Never seen a 35 year old Scottish man have so much fun being chased by a bunch of little chinese kids.

(Optional) Step 3: Baptise
Not my investigator, but I can’t help but feel privileged to be there for that moment when he said:
“I don’t know how to explain what I feel, but it feels like a wonderful start to something new…”
Bonus: Some great when-you-get-home people to visit.
