P1010042Hello Everyone!

We had a lot (of mission office stuff) to do on Monday that had prevented us from emailing so here it is! The first official report of Peterhead area in the Buchan Ward in the Scotland/Ireland Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!!!

So I received a trainee! His name is Elder Chuah and he is from Malaysia. He is half-Chinese and half-Malay, has a wonderful family, and is a very loving guy. This week I feel privileged to have such a companion because we have had to take over two areas, meld them into one and somehow capitalise on the work that has been previously done. Lots to do, but being able to have a companion that loves and helps me really makes it a lot easier. He’s going to be a great missionary and he has already made an immense impact in my work.

Soooooo, you may be wondering what the area is like, well it’s pretty scottish. The average age of this place is right around *cough* …a lot… *cough* But the work is great! We live towards the north end of the town and we can get from the north to the south in about a 20 minute walk. Coming from a bigger city I thought it was kind of a shame I am here, but there are about 20,000 people packed into this town and I love it. Everyone is very nice and if you want some great pictures of true Scotland, you come here. This town is found off of fishing so they have a brilliant fish and chips scene. It’s probably swimming straight until it hits the fryer. Being in an area that’s big enough to street contact and small enough that we can chap doors too allows for a great deal of variety in missionary work. We have wonderful members who feed us *cough* a lot. And many opportunities to serve allowing for a lot of referrals! Peterhead may be the best. Oh, and we have a wonderful flat that once we get the time next P-day to deep clean, it is absolutely amazing.

Anyways, this past week we had a great finding miracle! We met this guy named Peter near the docks. He is from Ghana and is living on a fishing boat, but we sat him down and taught a lesson right on the spot and he wants to be baptised the 28th of June!!! That was an answer to many prayers!

The area is beautiful. I have a wonderful companion. The work of salvation is commencing among the fishermen of Peterhead!
